Microsoft works closely with Flynet in both Technology and Marketing. The first version of the toolsets were built in 2001 when .NET was still in Beta and culminated in the building of a customised .NET emulator, the foundation of the ‘Mobile Shelf Edge System’, (MSES) enabling the update pricing in over one thousand of Tesco Stores in the UK and Ireland. Here Flynet pioneered the use of ‘XML over HTTP’, a technique which has recently become known as ‘AJAX’. The MSES project was the largest .NET integration project of it’s kind and connected 10,000 PDA’s to over 900 IBM RS6000 host systems running a Legacy UNIX pricing application over Radio Frequency.
