It normally applies to software that has a non-graphical user input screen. These are usually two colour e.g. green letters and numbers on a black background sometimes called a green-screen, Terminal or VDU.

These applications are rich in functionality and have been highly-tuned to work with individual businesses. However, they can be difficult to learn and use, look old and often run on outdated or expensive hardware.

Modernization offers many benefits. Some of these may include replacing the user input screen with a web page or connect the application to other programs to allow the sharing of data. Alternatively, you could even migrate the application from the old (legacy) systems to run on new Hardware.
