Why is Flynet Viewer better than other terminal emulation solutions?

Flynet Viewer uses XML, SLL, .NET and more to bring you a new generation of faster, more efficient terminal emulator. However, with the addition of Flynet Studio, Viewer is much more than just a terminal emulator. Together, Flynet Viewer and Studio provide a powerful and flexible environment for creating web-based and desktop applications whilst maintaining the integrity of your existing host system.

What are the benefits of screen scraping technology?

Terminal emulation solutions are often required for business critical applications. By using screen scraping technology, Flynet Viewer significantly reduces the risks to your business of changing your IT infrastructure. There is no need to alter the existing application so all your original data and business logic remains intact and safe.

Is Flynet Viewer interoperable with the .NET Framework?

Yes. Flynet Viewer is built on ASP.NET. It is compatible with the .NET Framework versions 1.1 and 2.0, and has fully programmable native .NET classes, which can be used for server-side customisation.

How does Flynet Viewer provide security?

Flynet Viewer maintains existing security on the host system by using secure sign-on. In addition, it can encrypt data between the Flynet Viewer server and client using SSL.

Is it possible to customize Flynet Viewer?
Yes. There are three different ways to customise Flynet Viewer:

  1. Look and Feel - change fonts, colours, add backgrounds, logos, click-able buttons (or hotspots)
  2. Interaction - Using Java Script, a programmer can capture a number of events to add functionality. E.g. change internet addresses into clickable hyperlinks or skip several unused screens
  3. Server-side - Fully programmable native .NET classes can be used to improve, log and control sessions.
