System integrator Dot Connected were looking for a .NET toolset that would allow Vanquis to access the mainframe application in a browser interface and enhance the green screen application using web services and other contemporary technologies. Vanquis needed a product that could integrate seamlessly with their Customer Relations Manager (CRM) application. After extensive evaluation and piloting, Dot Connected advised Vanquis that Flynet Viewer was the favoured technology.

"Flynet Viewer proved to be the most suitable toolset for our needs allowing us to build contemporary interfaces to our existing applications in .NET. Vanquis Bank have ambitious plans for expansion in the future and Flynet Viewer plays an important role in the IT strategy allowing us to do more business without increasing our overheads,” said Neil Smith, Head of IT.

Call centre operators can now access client details on the bank’s CRM via an intuitive user-friendly GUI browser, instead of having to remember esoteric code driven commands required for the legacy green screens interface. Enhanced features such as script prompts help guide operators through procedures.

“Training times for operators have been reduced with significant reduction in overheads. Flynet Viewer has considerably increased the overall efficiency with regards to operational matters and helped keep data access costs to a minimum”

Louise Taylor, IT Project Manager

This is the first stage in a drive toward providing the call centre operators with a single view of the client which will improve productivity and provide the extra capacity required to allow Vanquis to increase its client base.

Vanquis have reaped major benefits that include; Increased productivity from call centres, cost reduction by more efficient use of green screens and reducing the associated charges from FDI and a marked reduction in the time required to train operators, as the interface is now intuitive rather than code driven.

Flynet Viewer is also used for straight-forward browser-based terminal emulation. Further developments with the toolset are expected to be implemented within the foreseeable future as Vanquis continue to modernise their IT infrastructure.
